Guns to Gardens is a national movement that looks to curb gun violence by giving a place for people to get rid of unwanted guns. There are a few misunderstandings about events like this due to our polarized world and I want to take a second to clear them up. Our guns to Gardens event is not anti-second amendment, it is also not pro second amendment. We are not making political stances but finding common ground to make us all safer. From 10:00am-1:00pm we will be buying unwanted guns and destroying them. The pieces left from the guns will be turned into gardening tools by two blacksmiths from Toledo. From 11:00am-3:00pm we will focus our attention on safety. Gun ownership is a part of our everyday life, whether we love it or hate it. At the event we will focus on safe gun ownership by passing out gun locks. We will also address what to do if a gun is found, and how to talk about guns in a politically divisive culture. We will also have children activities focused on gardening and live music. Fremont Police will be present throughout the event to ensure the safety of all participants.
We will need volunteers, and the presence of loving Christians like you to make this event a success. Volunteers will not be asked to handle weapons but will be needed to usher cars through the buy back and provide guidance throughout both sides of the event. If you are willing to volunteer, please email us or call 419-332-3032.
